On the 8th of February 2019, TRELab, Roma Servizi per la Mobilità (the company that oversees strategies, plans, supervises, coordinates and controls private and public mobility for the city of Rome) and United Parcel Service held a meeting to discuss the necessity of establishing as soon as possible a Living Lab on city logistics to implement the projects presented in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the city of Rome.
A Living Lab involves various actors and stakeholders in the study and implementation of solutions for issues related to urban logistics. The first pilot project of the Logical Living Lab will be related to the urban cycling theme of Rome.
The pilot is supposed to start with an experimental use of cargo bikes for urban distribution of goods. It will have to involve different actors (transport operators, traders …) together with TRELab, RSM and UPS.
The pilot will be an opportunity to test the “Living Lab” method and to start the empirical experimentation of one of the integrated solutions proposed in the SUMP as well.
The people that participated to the meeting plan to start the pilot in the Spring of 2019. Further news will be available on this website.
